The residence is the play of pastel colours and oriental forms remodelled to contemporary shapes and a clever play of lights. The living room has an enormous elliptical ceiling design with another volume suspending from it. The master’s bedroom is on straight lines. The mushroom shade of the veneer adds opulence to the room. The furnishings and ornamental patterned wallpaper in the back drop complements the theme giving a plush feel. The kitchen entirely customised at site as per the requirement of the client finished in pastel shades and an oriental highlighter tile on the dado.
The brief was to create a home for a retired couple in their late 50,s. An apartment with huge windows on all sides allowed a lot of natural light to come in. With a good ceiling height, the requirement was of a conventional apartment.
Creating an apartment having an amalgamation of tradition and modern designing, we started evolving elements that second both the themes.
The spherical-trio creates a statement elevation for the apartment. Imbibing tradition in contemporary design the flooring has been inlayed taking inspiration from a “rangoli-pattern” which plays a very important role in houses down south in India and are made in front of the entrance door. To second the same a half spherical light under the suspended circular ceiling gives a modern touch to the same. The main door cladded in veneer has been applied in a spider-webbed pattern further adding to the details.
The living room has all its walls cladded in a different manner. The ceiling having an aligned flow creates an interconnecting visual feel between all these elements. The dinning niche has been cladded in leather. The light selection further adds to traditional patterns.
The kitchen- a conventional modular kitchen customised at site has a warm color palate. Notice the inlay details in the lamination of the shutters and mother of pearl inlay on the platform dado.
The master’s bedroom, has an inclined backdrop with its design flowing down from the ceiling to the foot board. The bold design of the head board and its metallic fabric is a piece of art. The ornamental fabric of the curtain and brass hardware add to an oriental look. The toilet is in golden portoro Italian marble. The inlay detail in the flooring further adds to the details.
In the son’s bedroom, the customized bed is a piece of art. The coral blue veneer and yellow compliment making a warm colour palate. The illuminated car displays and digitally printed wardrobe shutters add to the detail. The Murano glass tile is a master piece in the toilet.
The guest toilets is an excellent example showing how appealing contrasting elements like rustic, glossy and metallic compliment.
The Pooja room houses the handcrafted teak wood temple. The horizontal dome alike ceiling in the room further adds to the detail. The Deewan-seat folds in when not in use further adding to the utility in the room.
The brief was to design the house for a family of four. A luxurious apartment, our client wanted the abode to be an amalgamation of traditional and modern designing. The floor plate had a terrace over-looking high rise structures on its east and rest of the space had huge windows to its west overlooking the hills. The apartment has an exclusive lift lobby and a 20 feet wide elevation giving it a feel of a penthouse.

Their strategy of C-U-A model, the Cost, Utility and Aesthetic’ that has made for the smooth functioning of our firm’ standards one must deliver a complete package to the customer. Explaining their strategy about the project, he mentions, “Our C-U-A module has been the USP for our professional practice over the years and we have incorporated it in the best possible manner even in this assignment. The C-COST, the client always had a projected budget in mind. We managed to complete within the projected cost. The U-UTILITY, we made the apartment well capable when it comes to the utility factor. While we had a modest floor plate and a lot to do in it we made sure that no corner goes unutilized. A-AESTHETICS is one among the many reasons one hires a professional designer to do their space. In this assignment aesthetics was all about the theme based interiors and all the elements that will help us uplift and project our vision for the décor.”
Following the Moroccan taste, the entire space required a lot of research on the material palate and presentation styles and its execution in bringing in a sense of connect. The African-Indian stature had to be placed in the urban standards as well. On speaking about how they brought the association, the designer said, “Our clients being south Indians they always wanted to imbibe traditional design elements in their apartment. Inspiration for the residence interior roots to Moroccan design elements. Morocco is a small country located in northern Africa and is often a subject of rich traditional design features and historic structures which today are a strong source of design inspiration. From the intricate carved arch ways, detailed ceramic patterns to the colourful fabrics we did a lot of ground work around these elements which later reflected in our designs.”

We loved interacting with the client and gathering all relevant information before we put things on paper.
Layout is the key. The floor plate was very well planned in this high rise building with the living room in the centre and equal number of rooms on the either side. Without disturbing the existing layout and making a few alterations we came up with the layout that best fitted the requirements of our client.
Our favourite zone of emphasis is the ceiling design and we are popularly known for that. We positively wanted to carry this philosophy in this project as well. A strong sense of ceiling design gave a flow and connectivity to the entire house. The apartment had a great ceiling height and we did not want it to lose its importance and so all the ceiling we designed for the space gave an illusion of more height.
Detail is our forte and we love how we executed it in every nook and corner of the house. With so many high polish surfaces it is really a challenge to get a good quality job done.
